Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened and xylitol-free)
  • ½ cup fresh or frozen mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • ¼ cup water or low-sodium bone broth

Method

Making the Treats
  1. Wash fresh berries thoroughly and remove any stems. If using frozen berries, let them thaw slightly for easier mashing. Gently mash half the berries with a fork, leaving some chunks for texture. Save the remaining whole berries for later.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the plain yogurt and water until smooth. The mixture should have the consistency of thick cream. If adding honey, drizzle it in now and whisk thoroughly.
  3. Fold in the mashed berries and whole berries, creating a marbled effect. Don't overmix – leave beautiful streaks of berry color for visual appeal and bursts of natural fruit flavor.
  4. Spoon the mixture into bone-shaped silicone molds or ice cube trays. Fill each cavity about three-quarters full, leaving room for slight expansion during freezing. Gently tap the molds on the counter to release air bubbles.
  5. Place molds in the freezer for at least 4 hours, though overnight freezing produces the best texture. The treats are ready when they're completely solid and release easily from the molds.

Notes

Never use sugar-free yogurt containing xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. Avoid chocolate chips or artificial sweeteners. Don't overfill molds as expansion during freezing can cause cracking. Always supervise small dogs with frozen treats to prevent choking. Store in airtight container for up to 3 months in freezer. Let treats soften 5-10 minutes at room temperature for senior dogs or small breeds.
