A natural calcium supplement made from crushed eggshells that strengthens bones, teeth, and overall canine health
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • as needed organic free-range eggshells

Method

  1. Save eggshells from organic, free-range eggs. Immediately rinse shells under warm running water, removing all egg white residue and membrane. Scrub gently with a soft brush to remove stubborn membrane pieces.
  2. Pat shells completely dry with paper towels before storage.
  3. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Arrange clean, dry eggshells on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake for 10-15 minutes until shells become brittle and slightly yellowed. Allow shells to cool completely before handling.
  5. Transfer cooled shells to a clean coffee grinder or high-powered blender. Pulse in short bursts to prevent overheating.
  6. Continue grinding until you achieve a fine powder consistency similar to flour, ensuring no gritty particles or sharp edges remain.
  7. Test quality by rubbing a pinch between your fingers - it should feel smooth without rough texture.
  8. Store finished eggshell powder in an airtight glass jar in a cool, dry location. Label with preparation date.

Notes

Never feed raw or inadequately processed eggshells to dogs. Always consult your veterinarian before adding calcium supplements, especially for puppies, pregnant dogs, or pets with kidney disease. Store in airtight glass jar for up to 6 months. Start with half the recommended dose for the first week. Provide 1/2 teaspoon per 10 pounds of body weight daily, split between meals.
