Frozen Banana Dog Treats

Simple frozen dog treats made with wholesome ingredients to keep dogs cool and satisfied during hot weather
Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings: 12
Calories: 25

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas (the spottier, the sweeter)
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened)
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)

Method

  1. Mash the ripe bananas in a medium bowl until mostly smooth with just a few small chunks remaining.
  2. Fold in the Greek yogurt and peanut butter until well combined. The mixture should look creamy and inviting, similar to a thick smoothie.
  3. Drizzle in honey if using, and stir gently until everything is evenly distributed.
  4. Spoon the mixture into ice cube trays, silicone molds, or even small paper cups. Fill each compartment about three-quarters full to allow for slight expansion during freezing.
  5. Tap the tray gently on the counter to remove air bubbles and create smooth treats.
  6. Place in the freezer for at least 4 hours or overnight until completely solid and easily pop out of the molds.

Notes

Make sure peanut butter is xylitol-free as xylitol is toxic to dogs. Store in airtight containers or freezer bags for up to 3 months. Serve immediately after removing from freezer for best texture. Can substitute Greek yogurt with coconut yogurt for dogs with dairy sensitivities, or replace peanut butter with sunflower seed butter for nut allergies. Don't overfill molds as mixture expands when frozen.
