Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4-5 cups fresh seedless watermelon, cubed and deseeded

Method

Preparation
  1. Remove the rind completely and cut watermelon into bite-sized cubes appropriate for your dog's size. Small dogs need pieces no larger than a grape, while large breeds can handle chunks up to an inch. Meticulously remove all black seeds and white seed remnants.
  2. For simple cubes, place watermelon pieces directly on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they don't touch. For pureed treats, blend watermelon until smooth, then pour into ice cube trays or silicone molds.
  3. Place the tray in your freezer for 2-3 hours until the watermelon pieces are partially frozen but still slightly soft.
  4. Once individually frozen, transfer the treats to freezer-safe containers or bags. Label with the date and return to freezer for final hardening for 4-6 hours total freezing time.
  5. Remove treats from freezer 2-3 minutes before serving to prevent brain freeze and make chewing easier.

Notes

Remove all seeds and rind completely to prevent digestive upset. Serve 1-2 pieces for small dogs, 3-4 for medium breeds, and up to 6 for large dogs. Let treats soften 2-3 minutes before serving to prevent brain freeze. Store up to 3 months in freezer. Always supervise dogs while eating to prevent choking. Consult veterinarian before giving to diabetic dogs.
