Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • ½ cup organic turmeric powder
  • 1 cup filtered water
  • cup coconut oil (unrefined)
  • teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey (optional)

Method

Making Golden Paste
  1. Combine turmeric powder and water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
  2. Stir constantly for 7-10 minutes until the paste reaches a thick, pudding-like consistency that coats the back of a spoon without dripping. Add water one tablespoon at a time if it becomes too thick.
  3. Remove from heat and immediately whisk in coconut oil until completely melted and incorporated.
  4. Add freshly ground black pepper while the mixture is still warm.
  5. Stir in honey if desired for flavor enhancement.
  6. Allow the paste to cool completely before transferring to a clean glass jar. The mixture will thicken further as it cools, reaching its final consistency within an hour.

Notes

Start with ¼ teaspoon daily for dogs under 15 pounds, increasing to 1 teaspoon for larger breeds. Never skip the black pepper as it's essential for curcumin absorption. Avoid overheating which destroys beneficial compounds. Don't store in plastic containers as turmeric stains permanently. Start with smaller doses to prevent digestive upset. Consult veterinarian before adding to dogs with existing health conditions. Store up to 2 weeks refrigerated or 3 months frozen. Can act as blood thinner so avoid before surgeries.
