  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (xylitol-free)
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Gather your bone-shaped cookie cutters or any Halloween-themed shapes.
  2. Combine pumpkin puree, eggs, peanut butter, melted coconut oil, and honey in a large mixing bowl. Whisk until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, with no lumps remaining.
  3. Add whole wheat flour and rolled oats to your wet mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon until a firm dough forms. If the dough seems too wet, add flour one tablespoon at a time until it holds together properly.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll to 1/4-inch thickness. Use your bone-shaped cutters to create spooky treats, re-rolling scraps until all dough is used. Place cut treats on prepared baking sheets, spacing them about one inch apart.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges turn golden brown and the treats feel firm to touch. Remove from oven and let cool completely on wire racks before serving.
  6. Store cooled Halloween dog treats in an airtight container for up to one week at room temperature, or freeze for up to three months.

Notes

Never use pumpkin pie filling instead of pure pumpkin puree, as it contains harmful spices and sugar. Always verify peanut butter contains no xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. Store in airtight container for up to one week at room temperature, or freeze for up to three months. Limit treats to 10% of your dog's daily caloric intake. Can substitute rice flour for grain-sensitive dogs or mashed sweet potato for variety.
