Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey (93/7 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats, finely ground
  • 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pulse the rolled oats in a food processor until they reach a fine, flour-like consistency.
  3. Combine the ground turkey, beaten egg, and Greek yogurt in a large mixing bowl. Mix gently with your hands to avoid overworking the meat.
  4. Gradually incorporate the ground oats into the meat mixture. The mixture should hold together when squeezed but not feel sticky or wet.
  5. Roll the mixture into uniform balls about 1 inch in diameter using clean hands or a small cookie scoop. You should have approximately 24 meatballs.
  6. Place meatballs on the prepared baking sheet with space between each one. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the exterior develops a light golden-brown color.
  7. Allow the meatballs to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.

Notes

Each meatball contains approximately 25 calories and 4 grams of protein. Serve 1-3 meatballs depending on your dog's size as training rewards or special treats. Can be stuffed in Kong toys or crumbled over kibble. Store in refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to three months. Avoid overmixing the meat to prevent dense, chewy texture. Cool completely before serving to prevent burns and maintain structural integrity. Suitable for puppies over 8 weeks old in smaller portions.
