Notes

Always choose plain, unsweetened kefir without artificial additives. Introduce gradually over 5-7 days to prevent digestive upset. Monitor for adverse reactions, especially in dogs with dairy sensitivities. Consult veterinarian before giving to dogs with compromised immune systems. Never give flavored kefir with artificial sweeteners, especially xylitol which is toxic. Start with half the recommended amount initially. Most dogs show digestive improvements within 1-2 weeks, while skin and coat benefits may take 4-6 weeks.
